Members Widget Says “No one has signed up yet”

I use the buddypress members widget to display active or popular members in the right sidebar of my site. Can anyone tell me why the widget is displaying a message saying “No one has signed up yet”, even though I do have three test members and I have logged all of them in within the past 24 hours?

I think it might have been properly displaying the fake members that came with buddypress, until I deleted them. It will not show the three test members I created on my own, as if the BP widget doesn’t even recognize they exist. I do see the members listed in the BP “Users” area and in the MemberPress “Members” area, so the members are there, but the widget doesn’t see them.

@aubreyw Make sure members are active and must have logged in once. You can use user switching plugin to bring someone active.

I have three test members. I have logged all of them in within the past 12 hours, but the widget still doesn’t show them. Does “being active” mean they have to do more than just log in?

Give it a try, get them to do something and see if they appear.

Just logged into two of the test accounts. Communicated back and forth between the two of them via messaging, did a wall post, and “liked” a wall post ….. widget still shows “No one has signed up yet”.

That’s interesting. I just created a new user, they did not show up in the members list until I actually logged them in, then they appeared, and in the members widget too.

So it looks like there is a problem with your site blocking those users from appearing active. What other plugins are you running?

I tried removing the Widget Logic code that protects the Members widget from being seen by people who are NOT logged in. It works now, so the widget logic code was the problem. I don’t know why its causing a problem all of a sudden but it is. What’s funny is that somehow I cannot see the widget without being logged in first, as if the widget logic code was never needed in the first place, but I know it was need, because when I first set it up a few months ago, the Members widget was being displayed even to people who were not logged in, which explains why I had to add the widget logic code. Both the memberpress widget and the Widget Logic code seems to have a mind of their own. Who knows what it will do next. Frustrating.
