Moving plugin generated tab to sub nav

Hi, i have searched and looked at various tutorials but i cant seem to find how to do this!
I have a plugin which adds the tabs ‘following’ and ‘followers’ to the buddypress nav, i have successfully renamed these tabs but i want to move them to an already existing tab ‘friends’ as a sub nav item. how would i go about this?
