Navigation menue in subforums, where is it?

Hello,
It seems to me that BuddyPress forum is somewhat difficult to navigate (not very user friendly IMHO).
One main reason is that there is no menu (list of forums/topics, just like on the main page) in the left column, after one navigates to read a topic.
Is BuddyPress.org simply not using this function on this support forum, or adding the forum links to the left column is simply not possible to setup?
