Need help in page template?

Hello,
I’m using BP themes, which contains 3 columns (left, middle and right). For a particular page i would like to have only the middle column (ie. remove left and right column), actually i created a new page template and copied the “page.php” codes in it and i also removed the code for sidebar.php. Now my page displays only the middle column but the space for left and right column remain untouched. I would like to expand the middle column to fill the page completely.
Any help please………
