Need Help With Theme’s Background Image , Conflict With Buddypress

I just installed Buddypress 1.6.1 w/ latest WordPress and a customized full page theme called Fiat Lux. Adjusted all the HTML in the BUddypress pages to get the structures correct and site looks great except the theme uses a full page background slider which now isn’t showing up. I noticed that when I Disable BP Template Pack JS / AJAX in Buddypress Compatibility the images show up so there must be some sort of conflict with Ajax I assume? What functionality do I lose when selecting this and is there a way to fix this so I can get full Buddypress functionality and the background slider (which plays a major role in the home page of the site)?
