needed: Mod Rewrite help

not sure if i should do this with mod rewrite, or bp_catch_uri, or a change to the core
I have a sub directory install
I want to rewrite the urls from mydomain.com/members/username to mydomains.com/username or username.mydomain.com
then username.mydomain.com/profile
or username.mydomain.com/photos
i’ve searched all over…. found lots of stuff that doesnt work…
any thoughts? want me buy you lunch?
