New registrants – all reporting as our site IP address

    Hi everyone,

Virtually our registrations appear to be coming from the IP address of our server, as opposed to the IP address of the registrant’s ISP.

Is there a setting somewhere we missed, or are the spambots managing to spoof their IP?

If that’s the case, I’d imagine we’d run into problems if we try to block our own IP address?

    A quick update.

I signed up with a test account, and I am also showing as coming from the same IP address, so it’s not IP spoofing.

We currently have 8 registrations to approve. 7 of them from our server IP, one from Chicago.

    Weird.

Appears to be a problem with your host. Use another plugin to determine the real IP.

    Although it’s old, try this:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/real-ip/

You can also search Google ‘wordpress real ip’ to find other solutions involving wp-config.php.
