New to bp-custom.php

Hello,
I am starting to modify some pages for my BP and I want to use bp-custom.php
and found a code for removing the (xprofile_links) on the websitebut I want to remove other things such as the (this field can be seen ..) or modify (the paragraph on changing the profile picture section)
what kind of codes I shall use ?? can anybody help !?
