New user email issues

I did a search and dont see this mentioned anywhere for other issues.
when a user registers on the site it is sending an email that says notice of password change. Then says if you did not request password change contact admin.
AND
Then right after that it send an email with username as the email address (NOT THE USERNAME USED TO REGISTER) and a password.
When you try to login with the username that you create and the password it send it works. but the emails make it very confusing.
HOw can I stop the change password one and make the username be the username not the email?
