New users default to subscriber

    When someone signs up to view my blog, I want them to automatically be defaulted to an author. Right now it defaults them to a subscriber. Any plugin that will help me? I am using version 2.7

    search for the roles and capabilites plugin, then allow the subscribers to create posts and publish them, reply if you need more help
