no uppercase letters in user names

for some reason users are unable to use uppercase letters when creating logins for my website. http://www.communitycustoms.iinfo I have read that this is a common problem with wordpres MU but my site isnt using WPMU and is a stand alone installation, can anyone shed any light on how to fix this?

BuddyPress was originally built for WPMU. For some reason, we’ve got a bunch of username registration code inside BuddyPress itself (we should let WordPress take care of that) — which was based on WPMU — which is why this restriction exists, even one single-site BuddyPress.
