Notification won’t go away

    Hello…I’m on BP 2.6.2 and WP 4.6

I seem to be having an issue with the notification “Changes saved” on my Profile pages. The notification will not go away after making an update to the profile. It doesn’t matter what tabs I click on in my profile, the “Changes saved” notification remains. If I navigate to other pages and then click on my profile link again, the “Changes saved” notification is still there. There isn’t any caching on my site, but I can’t seem to get the notification to clear.

Any ideas? Is this a bug? Thanks.

Do you get the same behave while using another theme ?

Yes…I loaded the Twenty Sixteen theme and the notification still appears.

When I logged in this morning, the notification had disappeared finally, so I tried updating my profile again and the notification is appearing and not going away again.

If I logout of my account and view my profile as a user who is not logged in, I STILL see the notification.

If I access the website from a different browser, however, the notification is not present. If I login with that different browser, the notification is also not present. If I modify my profile on that browser and save the changes, the notification becomes stuck on that browser as well.

Emptying the browser cache doesn’t appear to have any affect. If I look at the cookies, there is a bp-message entry that is set to “Changes+saved.” and one named bp-message-type that is set to “success”. If I delete both of those from the cookie, the message disappears. Looks like this is a cookie issue.

Since this is occurring in 2 different themes, does it look it might be a BP issue, or is there possibly something going on with my installation where cookies aren’t getting expired properly?

I’m having this EXACT same issue. The same behavior happens regardless of which theme is used.

What is causing the notification to stay on a page if there is no caching on the site? I disabled all plugins, and the issue still persists. What is the fix for this?

Notifications are stored in browser cookies. Can you check your cookies?

    Hello, @shanebp

Yes. I checked my cookies, and if I clear them, the notification goes away. If I trigger another notification by clicking the “leave group” button on the BuddyPress group page, the notification appears and gets stuck on the header of every page again. This happens on every browser I’ve tried.

Have you tried switching momentarily to a WP theme, like 2016?

If you have and the issue still persists..
You can open a bug report here.
Be sure to include your versions of WP and BP.

    Thank you for the link.
Yes, I have switched to the 2016 theme, and the notification still gets stuck.
