Is there any way to order group forum topics by the date the topic was first created, rather than the date it was last active?

I imagine there might be a way to do this with bp_has_forum_topics, although as far as I can tell the only accepted arguments are newest, popular and unreplied, which don’t do what I’m looking for.  Is there a way to create a new argument to make this work? Or is it possible to edit one of the current arguments (eg. newest) to sort by date created rather than last active? Or am I completely on the wrong track?
