phpMyAdmin user status activate members

I read that in phpMyAdmin, in the wp_users table there is a ‘user_status’ column where Active Users are ’0′ and Unactivated are ’2′. I looked in the table and all users are “0”, but none of them appear to be activated and I can’t see them in a member directory, or add them as friends, etc. Did the post I read get the numbers backward? Should active users be “2”? If I change this setting for all my users in this table location, will the result be that all my users will be active? That is the result I am hoping for. Thank you for your kind assistance, it is very appreciated!

I’m using the latest BP, bbpress and WP versions.

    Hello Fel,

I’m trying to do the same thing – have you had any luck?

I know there’s a plugin for sale – I think it’s only $17.00 – but at this point I just really want to figure this out, I can’t believe it’s this difficult!

You can activate users using that method. However I would advise backing up the database before doing these edits. Even after activating a user this way they still will not show up in the members directory until they login the first time. Instead of fiddling around in the database why not just use a plugin to activate users:

    THanks for the link!

I’ve installed it but my WordPress users are not listed as “pending”. They only show up under the ‘users’ tab in the admin dashboard.

Is there a way to change them to “pending’?

    Thanks!

But won’t WordPress USERS, who are not showing up as BuddyPress MEMBERS, be activated as MEMBERS once they login for the first time?

Did you check in dashboard/settings/buddypress/pending activations?

Yes – it’s showing 6 pending activations. These are new users who signed up in the last 2 days…but when I go to “users” I have 2300. And, when I go to “members” only those 10 accounts that I activated manually show up – and I activated them by just logging in.

    I appreciate your help though!

Those 2300 must not have logged in the first time. If they have not, they will not show up in the members directory. If they have not logged in yet I would imagine a good majority of them are spam accounts. Good luck!

No, they’re actual users but I’m transferring my Joomla site to WP/BP. So I imported them into WP, installed BP, and they don’t show up as members.

So, question – when they do login for the first time they’ll become “members” at that point?

    Thanks again!

If all went well with the import they should!
