Post update form on its own page/popup?

Hi
I’d like to add a link for people to click to go straight to a full=page (or pop-up) of the post update form, so they dont have to load the timeline page.
So like twitter, etc, most social sites, where you can click a “+” or whatever and it opens the post form.
Can this be done via plugin, or how would I go about doing this?
