Problem addng groups

I was trying to add a new to a fresh buddypress install and when I got to the second page to set the type of group I selected Private and then clicked next. I get a display of a page with a # and message from IE that says it modified the page.
The group did get add.
I then tried FireFox to update the group settings and got an page not found error clicking on save the setting page as it tried to display /admin/group-settings
