Problems after upgrading to 2.1

    Hi.
Bear with my as my setup might get complex and I’m not actually sure which plugin causes the problems.
I have a site that uses Gravity Forms User Registration Add-on that maps all required fields to BuddyPress upon registration. Recently I discovered that my GF Registration didn’t save any metadata or correct user role (custom). Also user ‘nickname’ was duplicated to ‘first_name’ in the database table wp_usermeta. Since I was version or two behind on updates (both on WP and plugins) I figured maybe that was the problem. My setup after updating everything:

    WordPress 4.0
    BuddyPress 2.1
    Gravity Forms 1.8.16
Gravity Forms User Registration Add-On 1.8

    Didn’t solve anything.
When a user registers, an admin has to approve the user via ‘manage signup’. After approval admin is greeted with PHP Warning -page

Notice: Undefined index: password in [clipped]/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-members/bp-members-functions.php on line 1718

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at [clipped]/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-members/bp-members-functions.php:1718) in [clipped]/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1173

    – User is basically stored in the database.
    – Any metadata, info, first/last name or password is not, only email and nickname gets stored.

Database problems were happening before the update and is most likely a GF problem, but the php notice and error happened only after the update.
I know it is a plugin conflict somewhere, but don’t even know where to start. I was wondering if someone else has run into this. Any help?

Users of BP need to realize that each update, especially major ones like BP 2.1, can create problems because other plugins have not yet been updated to take the BP changes into account. Which is why the use of a dev site is such a good idea.

But your issue existed prior to your updates.
It was very optimistic of you to think updates would solve it. 🙂

I suggest you roll-back the updates and solve the GF Registration issues.
Gravity Forms has good user support, especially for paid addons.
I’d use that support to help solve the issues.

Just in case someone finds this and runs into same problem:
Do not use Buddypress “manage signups” when you use Gravity Forms user registration.
Registering + Buddypress (also in 2.1) sync works flawlessly when you activate users via GF user registration and not via Buddypress.

-Code is not broken, user is. 🙂
