Problems with using the Date Selector

I am using the Date Selector in my website. It’s working great except for the following:
1. User registers and enter something like February 02 1980.
2. I run a sql query and the date is being stored as a UNIX date like ‘318297600’
3. I go to my user profile, do nothing and resave it.
4. I run the same query and it changes the date to “1980-02-01 00:00:00”Problem is this is reeking havoc on my site. I need to do weekly exports of the member list and the dates are all inconsistent. Is this a know bug in the Xtended User Profile system in BuddyPress?
