profile field HELP! Privacy settings.

Hi, I completely changed the home.php file to my own custom page lay out.
Because I did that the BP-privacy plugin does not work at all!
What I am trying to do is create a check profile field and I named it Block profile,
Now I created a page template with the displayed user avatar, and a note saying ” user has blocked their profile ” but the only problem I am having is creating the code to where if it is checked i want it to call the template and over ride the rest of the data displayed on the page.
I know I have to use a IF command along with ifelse, but i can’t seem to get it to work.
Can anyone give me a pointer or perhaps a quick easy fix for this?
