Profile fields and location of users.

    Hi again, is there any kind of mapping plugin that will allow me to let users add their location?

    The reason i ask this is because i already know how to manually add locations for users to choose from by by creating xprofile fields then adding a conditional field based on what is picked by the user, now to me it seems this would be one hell of a monstrous task to pull off, i have currently got a full list of towns/citys that reside in the uk and it is huuuuuuuuuuuge! nevermind tackling other countries, to type them all in manually would take me forever.

    There must be an easier solution out there?

    There is: let the user add his location himself !
    Imagine you ask them their prefered dishes ? Would you give them a pre-buid list of dishes ? Probably not…

    For countries, you have already the list built-in WordPress. Question is, are you cibling the world or only UK and his over 1050 towns&villages ?

    haha i get what you mean dan but im also wanting to integrate a custom members search via location

    Google has several great APIs for locations. And lots of documentation.
    No need to hard-code a list of locations.
    Depending on how you store the user location, it will be available for searches.
