Public Message Without Redirecting to Site-Wide Activity Page

BP profile pages contain a “Public Message” link to leave a public message for the person on whose profile page I am. However a click on the Public Message button redirects the user to the Site-Wide Activity page. The message for the target user can be made there, as text field is automatically pre-filled with a reference to the user, however I thought the redirect, as well as the loading up the latest activity site wide is not the best way to handle it.

Public messages which are targeted to a specific user should be possible without taking the poster away from the profile page for which the message is intended. General updates not intended for a particular user can be made from within one’s own profile page. Therefore, in my opinion, the ability to leave a pubic message intended for showing in a specific user’s activity stream should be similar to leaving a comment, which doesn’t take the commenter to a site-wide comments page.

Welcome thoughts form developers on this.
