Reading settings not activated in theme – Blogs post problem

I have just installed buddypress at my wordpress site at http://schoolofeducators.com/ .
With all other themes in wordpress at reading tab option we can customize 10 ( x ) blogs posts to appear on front page . these posts are in summary form and only first post is open. In my latest upgradation to buddypress all the posts on home page are opened ( last 10 ) posts. I want only latest post to be opened and all other 9 posts to be in summary form i.e. read more option.
how to do it. please help.
