Really confused here, or am I just stupid?

I see that there is the facility for users to create blogs, but cannot see anywhere in the settings, how and where this can be done, or managed. Is it expected that any user will have total understanding of how Buddy Press works and will jump in and start blogging, or have just totally missed something?

    Thanks
    Hans

BuddyPress doesn’t do anything for blogs except track new blog posts and comments in the activity stream.

WordPress handles all blog creation. If you want your users to be able to create blogs, you’ll first need to change your WordPress install into a network:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

Be sure to read the “Do you really need a network?” section as well:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#Do_you_really_need_a_network.3F

If you just want your users to contribute to your existing WordPress blog, then you’ll need to make your users authors:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Users_Screen
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Users_Screen#Change_Roles_to

Great, thanks for the insight. I will contact the client and see where they want to go with this. I was tasked with the creation of a site and he liked the idea of users being able to create their own “blogs” but I am sure that he meant something within the confines of the main site, rather than what it “really” means to use a Network setup.

    Thanks

As an additional question, my client did mention :
I see many BP sites that have the “Blog” option in the BP menu so that users don’t have to go into the WP dashboard to blog.

Is there something that others have done that allows a simple link on the site that will open the tools that create posts?

    Thanks
    Hans
