Registered users cannot log in

    The site we’ve been working on was fine yesterday but now users who have signed up as BuddyPress members can not log in. I have tested what is happening and I know that even if you are 100% certain of your user name and password the system still returns an error “ERROR: Incorrect username or password.” How can this be happening when the users are correct and properly registered? The accounts have been activated too.

    We have a different user type who signs up via our membership plugin, they work fine.
    The administrators of the site can log in fine.

    Any ideas please??

    Well that would suggest an issue with your membership plugin really, check it is correctly setting user types, can your users login if you disable that plugin.
