Reinstall – Should I delete old tables from db?

I had an issue with my WPMU installation and uninstalled BP to try and isolate the problem. The issue has been resolved and I need to reinstall BP. When I uninstalled BP I followed the directions from Nicola from another post here on BP.org. Specifically I deactivated the plugin, deleted the plugin and deleted the themes. Nicola had listed as optional removing the bp tables created in my wpmu db. I left them in since it was optional.

q1) Can I do a simple reinstall with the old bp tables still in the wpmu db?

q2) Is there anything else I need to do or watch out for during the reinstall? Or is it just as simple as the initial install?

I’m using a fresh install of WPMU 2.7.1 in my root folder. I’m using the latest version of BP with no other plugins activated at this time.

Thanks. I’m a big fan and I tried following all the directions for posting.

If you are reinstalling and you do not need to re-use any of your old BP data which is in the tables, just delete the tables to be on the safe side.

Thanks DJ. I should have added this other question to my original post.

q3) Do all of the bp tables start as ‘wp_bp_*(table name)? or is their another naming convention i should look for when eliminating?

    Thanks again,

    Ricky

Yes. all the buddypress tables are prefixed _bp_ which are in turn prefixed by whatever the buddypress table prefix is (by default, wp_).

Also check the wp_sitemeta table for similary-named buddypress settings.

    DJPaul,

I deleted all of the wp_bp tables. I’m not sure what you meant by check the wp_sitemeta table for similarly-named buddypress settings? Could you give me an example of what you are talking about? Here are the meta_keys for the sitemeta table? Anything I need to do or am I good to go with the reinstall?
