Request: option to restrict a Group by admin invite, not visibility.

Request: I would like to have the option for a Group Membership to be admin invite only but allow public visibility and possibly download or at least visual access to media, docs, etc.
Purpose: I have a Group restricted to my students – for homework, class matters, etc.
I want other BP members to see what we do and possibly be able to download the handouts I post.Limitation: I am not a coder. I can get around, and do simple things with step by step instruction. So if this is too difficult just let me know that too. I haven’t found a plugin yet.
