It should just work out of the box. The bbPress activity stream support is included inside bbPress, so maybe it is not being loaded. I’ll ping @johnjamesjacoby to see if he has seen the problem before.
Thanks @DJPaul for the reply, that’s what I thought as well that it worked right out of the box. I tested the groups with forums with another install I had and those would post on the activity stream. But neither install would show the blog mentions or blog comments.
Thanks again
@DJPaul I also found out that when I favorite a forum post it will not show up in my favorites under my profile. I think definitely bbpress isn’t connected correctly. If you find anything I would appreciate it.
The Forums in BuddyPress 1.5 are in a transition, so it’s important to be as specific as you can about what you’re experiencing.
To clarify, both Group and Site Wide Forums should be creating activity stream items. At no point should Group Forums not create activity. Site Wide forum activity logging might stop working if BuddyPress needs a database update.
If mentions and favorites aren’t working either, it leads me to believe something else is not working properly in your installation. Conflicting plugins or invalid file uploads somewhere possibly.
Thank you @johnjamesjacoby @DJPaul for the replys, it’s a clean install with only the style.css customized in a child theme. 1.5.1 bp, 3.2.1 wp. No plugins installed besides bp and bbpress which I installed using the site wide forums selection within forums settings in buddypress. Forum updates or new forum posts do not show in activity stream at all.
Mentions and favorites for the forum are not showing on a user profile or activity stream as well, other wise mentions and favorites work with update posts. So mentions and favorites function just not within forums. This makes me believe it has to do with bbpress. Otherwise buddypress is working as it should.
What type of database update would I need to preform on bp if that’s the case? Any other solutions?
Thank you for your help all,
I still don’t completely understand what you mean.
bbPress Site Wide favorites don’t appear in the profiles at all yet, they will in 1.6/2.1. Same with topics and replies that are posted from within wp-admin. It sounds silly, but I didn’t feel it right to trigger activity updates when posting in the dashboard while bbPress 2.0 was still new. So these are less bugs than they are unfinished features.
Mentions work, and appear in activity streams and trigger notifications. testbp.org runs a vanilla install of everything, and they work there without issue.
The database update is a prompt you see in your dashboard. If you don’t see the prompt, then there’s nothing that needs doing.
@johnjamesjacoby you answered my question, I was simply just saying site wide forum activity was not posting on the activity stream, that’s it in a nutshell. I thought site wide forum activity would post just like group forum activity. If it doesn’t than that’s ok, I just assumed it would function the same in that regard.
Thank you,

So if I am understanding correctly, topics made in the backend of wordpress for the sitewide forums will not show under the forums tab in the members section?
I have also created a topic directly on the sitewide forums, not in the backend, named introductions. However if I look under my profile, at forums: it says no topics found.
So somehow the topics created in sitewide forums do not show in the members pages.
Is this an unfinished feature or a bug?
Cause it’s kind of hard to keep track of the published topics right now.
Yes, topics made for the sitewide forums are not showing under the forums tab in the members section.
Why not? I was able to make it show up in the normal activity.. but when I got to forums tab it just says…
Viewing topic 1 (of 1 total) but there is nothing to view!?
Hi, I found this thread on my travels and it worked a treat, so i thought i’d share. Just stop discouraging search engines under settings>reading, then post a new reply or topic n the forum and it will now show. Don’t ask me why.
