Running out of memory while backing up DB through SSH

    Hi,

    I’m currently on RC2 with WPMU 2.7.1 (will upgrade very soon). I’ve about 2600 users. This morning, when I was backing up the database through SSH, I got following error –

    mysqldump: mysqldump: Couldn’t execute ‘show table status like ‘wp\_22\_comments”: Out of memory (Needed 2093952 bytes) (5)

    What should I do to fix this?

    It could be any number of things — out of memory can be hard to track down the actual cause. Transaction log could be full, might be low on disk space, the system might be running out of RAM trying to execute the transaction… Sometimes out of memory is a symptom of an underlying problem — this is the short list.
