Can you see if you have any Javascript errors on the pages in question? Sounds like an AJAX problem, and those are most often times bugged up by other custom Javascript.
I also am having this issue.
@John – IE8 Does not show any errors.
Also this is a clean installation of WPMU and BP, so nu customizations at all.
ok, seems like i have it fixed now. i just set the permalinks to “default” (mine were set to “custom” – although thats what was part of the install). hopefully that does it for you too. i dont know if this is explained elsewhere better on here.
– btw, i also am hosted with godaddy on a shared server, and it did it to me also from a clean install, which i tried twice.
WOW!
There is something seriously wrong going on with the PERMALINKS.
2 Scenarios:
a) If you have Permalinks as a Default – click on Members – and you get a page showing your Profile and HOME is highlighted in the Menu
b) If you have Permalinks on Custom (I have /%postname%/) – click on Members – and you get a list of members and Members is highlighted (as it should) but then your paging and Member search do not work. The same is with anything else but Default PERMALINKS setting.
I even tried setting .htaccess on 777 to be sure it is being updated…
/%postname%/ alone won’t work, and /%category%/%postname%/ may still be broken also, but I will need to test.
HI John,
What is the structure of the URL’s tha we can use in the Custom Permalinks actaully?
I used /%postname%/ just becaue I used to use it on my WP blog…
Thanks,
Ivan
Any luck with this? I realized that changing the permalinks also then created that issue with the members page displaying the profile also. It’s a teeter-totter, back and forth. I hope someone can answer this.
Should this be submitted as a ticket?
I should also add, that when the permalinks are to default, which we agree lets the ajax work correctly on those pages now but messes up the linkage to the pages themselves, I noticed that the top searchbar search, will go to the members page so long as there is a character in the field. would that suggest anything?
If you people can reproduce this issue then, yes, it needs to be a trac ticket. Describe what it takes to break ajax and the other problems you are having when you change the permalink structure. Make sure you indicate the exact permalinks that break things.
Hi Burt,
on WPMU 2.7.1 and BP 1.0 – whatever PERMALINKS you set up except the Default – your Members page does not work.
And yes it is quite easy to reproduce – happens every time you change the Permalinks from the default to anything else.
How do I log a bug? It asks for a login credentials there?
Same credentials as here for trac.
I am having the exact same issue. Has a bug been submitted?
Whenever my Permalinks are not set to Default, every page or link take to white page so Buddypress cannot work at all. What to do?
Thanks.
