/search/ Page Redirecting Home

When I visit my page with the permalink domain.com/search/ , it is redirecting to my home page for some reason. The issue started as soon as I installed buddypress, and goes away when I deactivate it. Changing page templates does not help, but changing the permalink DOES fix the problem. Ideally I would keep it as search though.
Is that page reserved by buddypress in some way?
BuddyPress version 1.8.1
Wordpress 3.6
I currently have BuddyPress deactivated, but the site is http://integratedtotalwellness.com
