Site and/or Group Creation

I think I’m losing my mind. I recall that under a member’s “Sites” tab, there was a sub-menu item that allowed the logged-in member to click on “create a site”, and would be presented with an embedded page (just like if one were to select, “Create a Site!”, from the WordPress/Buddypress admin bar–although this creates a blog for the main site). So, am I crazy or was a member never able to create their own blog from the “sites” menu tab? Thanks!

Wordpress 3.2.1, Buddypress 1.5.1, latest Buddypress Template Pack.

FYI: Under Network Settings: “Both sites and user accounts can be registered” was selected.

P.S. I also recall being able to create a “group” in a similar sub-menu under the “Group” tab. This is not available either.

Yes to both. Are you able to deactivate template pack, switch to BuddyPress default theme, and see if they reappear?

@djpaul, Thanks. I did what you suggested and more. No go. Since I have more control on my local installation, I re-installed WordPress, then BP 1.5.1 (using the bp-default). No luck. I uninstalled 1.5.1 and tried with 1.5. No luck. I uninstalled 1.5 and tried with BP 1.5 RC. No luck.

Other than you saying that it exists, I’m beginning to think that sub-menu item was always a figment of my imagination. I don’t know what else to try. Any suggestions?
