Site crash although several blogs are still functional

I was installing the required code for wp-pagination in the theme of one of my bloggers site. When I cam out, the hub site was (and remains) totally inaccessible. Not even at wp-admin. This is the case with several blogs in our community, but others are totally functional.

I have changed the theme I was working on back to its original form and deleted the plug-in. I have also archived the blog. The site is still down.

I have checked my databases, no problems. I have a back-up from right after the crash and one that is less than a week old.

If I upgrade my BP plug-in at the server by overwriting the old one, will this cure my problem? Or is there another solution?

    Thanks!

Okay, I overwrote the 1.1 version with 1.2.3 per instructions, deleted the old themes. Acitvated the plugin and received a Fatal Error message. Is there any way that my original problem (see above) is WPMU related?

Have you upgraded your wordpress Mu to wpmu 2.9.2 or you are using the old version of wpmu below 2.9.

For now, you can simply rename wp-content/buddypress and you will be able to access the wp-admin. Let us know about your current configuration in details as mentioned here

Okay, so now I am at the site dashboard…what next? Rename the plugins file? Create a new one?

I have the home blog recovered, but there are still several blogs that are inaccessible.
