Slow Adminbar menu on main blog, fast menus on per blog basis

Has anyone also noticed that the adminbar menu on top of the bp demo (http://testbp.org) site is really slow when displaying the submenus and the hover but fast on the user-blog-sites? It took half a second until the hover background color displays!
I have a similar behaviour on my local install of bp and i can’t explain why it behaves this way – is there anything we could do to improve the adminbar performance on the main blog?
