Sort activities posted in the last 24 hours by number of comments

On the main page of my buddypress website I would like to have it show activities from the last 24 hours, and sort those based on the number of comments the activities have. I know that via the activity loop you can sort chronologically, but I didn’t see any other options for sorting. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
