Space in Username Creating Space in URL’s and Navigtion Problems

When I try to go from here:

http://ourrealfood.org/members/Marc%20Brazeau/profile/ (copiess and pastes with the %20)

to here

http://ourrealfood.org/members/Marc%20Brazeau/profile/edit/

I end up here

http://ourrealfood.org/

it’s the only instance of misdirection that I’ve noticed in navigating around the profile.
After reading the thread above I switched my nickname with my display name (marcbrazeau and Marc Brazeau) but that didn’t change the url. Do I have to go under the hood to change how member url’s are rendered? If so I’ll need very clear instructions because I’m not that technical.

If you register through the BuddyPress registration, you’ll notice that your username will not be allowed to have spaces, capitals etc.

Same thing applies here, don’t let your usernames contain spaces.
BuddyPress just can’t parse the %20 (which is a space) and sends you back to the frontpage.

I wonder if we can support this for 1.3. It is probably an overzealous filter somewhere.
