Spam Signups?

In the last day I’ve released a new theme. Which is nice :D. But suddenly I have DROVES of users coming in, seemingly in spurts. I think these are spam signups. They seem like average joe names, not the variety you’d expect.

Maybe you guys know exactly what I’m talking about? This is my first time using buddypress although I’m quite good with wordpress.

Is buddypress a huge spam target? Is this normal for a bpress launch? What are you guys doing for this sort of thing?

The reason for that is so many installs are not customized enough and that makes it easy for bots.

No system is safe from spam.
