Starting point – groups

**Bleh: after going back over the bp sn parent > groups, I think my posts abit retarded now :<

Going over things again, that was a stupid question. What I still need to know though is if you inspect element with firebug, where does it show the source of the file?

Hi, I need help regarding how wp/wpmu/bp files relate to each other.

I would like to try start by working backwards on the group section, (seeing as this is my main focus for my soon to be bp site.. and hopefully advancements along this section will encourage me and help me understand what on earth is going on :p ) I have some basic php skills and abit more fluent in css.. but I cant see how this all fits together yet, I need that ‘light switching on’ moment :D.

If you guys could tell/help me understand which files relate to the groups section and what that specific files purpose is, it would be a starting point and really help me out alot. I really dont want to come off as lazy but Ivé like hit a wall where by I cant advance without knowing what files do what, kinda thing.

    Thanks and regards

Sorry about the above post, wasn’t thinking. But I need to find out, say I wanted to customize the wordpress-mu/groups/absa, (absa being a random group so I can see the page.) How can I find the page that contains like the order the widgets appear in, (where <div class=”inner-tube”> is). Like Discription, News.. and so on, if I wanted News to appears above Discription, what page would I do this on.

I can edit through firebug but cant/dont know how to save the change, which would be wrong anyway cause the page was generated?

So how would I find the ‘layout’ page? If that makes more sence

Sounds like you’re using the classic theme. My guess would be here:

    /wp-content/themes/bp-sn-parent/groups/single/home.php

But maybe make your mods in a child theme copy of the file instead… i.e.:

    /wp-content/themes/bp-child-theme/groups/single/home.php
