Status Updates on Page

I would like to add the ability for people to update their status from my homepage. How do I do this? I tried using the plugin BP Post From Anywhere but it ended up taking my blog post out of the page! Strange!

Anyway, is there a way to put this in a widget so members can update their status from the homepage rather than their profile ?

BP Profile Shortcodes Extra has a shortcode [bpps_whats_new] for the activity What’s new form, you could put that shortcode into a text widget.

Thanks – tried that but just get either [bpps_whats_new] as text or a blank box ? Do I need different syntax ?

Just that shortcode, it should just work, simple as pie, are you getting any errors? Do you have an error log running?

I’m thinking that there maybe a conflict somewhere, this is the second plugin that’s not worked for you.

    Something with your theme maybe?

There’s other options, there’s BP Activity Shortcode, I think you can get that to do the same thing.

Try [activity-stream allow_posting=”1″] this should test is, I’ve had a look at the shortcode and I’m not sure it’s possible to only display the What’s up screen without showing some activity, but it’s worth testing to see if you get the input form.

this all seems very hit or miss so I am looking into other options now. Many thanks.

Theme developer says the plugins suggested above are not robust and are buggy.

Can anyone suggest another option please?

Could you ask your theme developer to raise the bugs with the plugin developers. Strange how they all seem to be giving you issues.

You could write your own plugin I suppose? Don’t think there’s any other off the shelf options
