@intothemythica,
guess you have to follow instructions belonging to the actual WP/BP version… Haven’t you seen this notice ?
***The following pertains to administrators using WordPress 3.0 in network mode)***
BP should be on the same site where WP is installed.
Follow Codex from here and note that:
One site of the Network
C. BuddyPress Activated in Main Site only
D. BuddyPress Activated in Secondary Site only
Posts, comments, or activities of the users in sites other than where you activated BuddyPress won’t be recorded in the Activity Streams when you install BuddyPress in only one site of the network.
Installation in WordPress Multisite
I appreciate your response. I am a little confused. Does this mean that I CANNOT use BP on one site in the multisite and have Activity stream come through?
How can I accomplish this? Though the FAQ is there, I would appreciate a little explanation as I tinker around.
Thank you
… i’ve activated Buddypress network-wide, yet the posts from sub-sites are STILL not showing up. The solution is to have the posts showing up. Can you assist?
Sorry if this is not clear to you: i can’t explain better.
Posts, comments, or activities of the users in sites other than where you activated BuddyPress won’t be recorded in the Activity Streams when you install BuddyPress in only one site of the network.
BP should be activated on the main site where WP is installed, if you want the whole blogs activities.
your-site/ here is WP declared as network
sub-blog1/your-site/
su-blog2/your-site/ you activated BP on this secondary blog. OK fine, but it’s a sub-blog and BP will only show the activity of that sub-blog.
sub-blog1/your-site/
etc…
Create something on a sub-blog and see if the activity comes up. The feed is not updated if you change something in your settings. It’s only updated when you publish something new.
yah that’s not working. Basically, I know it can be done, somehow. If I install BP on a secondary blog when it’s FIRST installed, then the feed shows up on the secondary blog. Yet when I move it over after the fact, the feed doesn’t show. This is the issue. I want to move it over to a secondary blog that I can dedicate to buddypress and leave the main site as something else. Or, alternatively, have a secondary buddypress installation on the secondary blog. Help?
