threaded comments?

In Settings>Discussion, there’s an option for threaded discussion (which I’ve checked), but I don’t see a reply button on any comments. In searching for more information, I’ve seen some posts saying a plugin is needed, but then I read other information saying that with the latest versions of wpmu, no plugins are necessary.

I’m running wpmu 2.8.4, and BuddyPress 1.1. Does BuddyPress support threaded comments, or do I need to use a different theme?

    hi

well, you don’t need any plugin to make it work.It is part of wp now.

can you specify which theme you are using. The feature of threaded comments depends on themes too(as themes should allow it) and most of the themes allow this.

Please let us know the theme,or check with the theme author, does that themes supports threaded comment.

    hi

I checked buddy theme 1.3 .It does not support threaded comment .btw,Try replacing the comments.php from buddytheme by comments.php from either default or home or bp-sn-parent.May be that should make it work, but you may need some css styling in that case.

Brajesh, thanks for checking on that theme. I will try substituting the comments.php file.

What did you look for in buddy theme to determine that it does not support threaded comments? I chose it because 1) it’s designed to match the BuddyPress default, and 2) the description says:

    Tags: Orange, two-columns, threaded-comments, fixed-width, right-sidebar

I’d like to know what code to look for in themes in the future to ensure that the theme supports threaded comments.

    Thanks.

Settings>Discussion… this setting doesn’t have any relationship with BuddyPress.

Are you trying to accomplish threaded comments for blogs? If so, this forum is not the right place for support of wpmu.

Are you trying to make threaded comments for activity feeds? If so, your question should stay here.

This is a solution I came up with, for me it works because it works more like Facebook.

    In plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/comment.php

I changed the href on line 37 to
    <?php bp_activity_comment_link(); ?>

When a user clicks Reply on a comment, it replies the same way it would if you clicked the Comment button.

    Buddypress 1.9
