Track Which User Gets 100 Friends First

I will be running a contest on my site to see who can get 100 friends first. I need a way to track this as it will be impossible to keep a watch on every user and determine who gets to 100 first.

Can anyone offer a solution that will make it easy for me to know who gets 100 friends first?
