Trading a Custom Post Type

I have ventured to create a buddypress website in which we can transact trades for digital products. Where some can also store those digital products that they have traded. My thoughts are to create a custom post type in which the post type can be traded back and fourth between users and that post will have a certain formate (featured image and custom taxononies) users will be able to offer credits or item for the trade.
Any thoughts on something like? or a starting point would help
