Trying to understand the MU/Buddypress relationship

So, when I install Buddypress; does it take over the whole MU blog system, or is just confined to one of the MU blogs?

Because I have several WordPress MU blogs, but I only want one of them to be forums.

Is that possible? Or do I need to make a whole separate MU setup for that to happen?

The first thing to remember BP is a WPMU plugin. That saidâ€¦

It’s a site wide plugin, so it runs on a main blog but hooks into all of the other blog. Each group you create can have or not have their own individual forums. Have a look at testbp.org or make a test installation, that’s probably the best way to find out.
