Two user types – standard and pro – what is best approach to handle

Hi, I’m starting to build a community site, where will be two types of users – standard (ie. visitors) and pro (ie. companies offering their services) users. This is my first BuddyPress project, so I would need some help.
The pro users should of course have different profile than the regular users, and there should be 3 subscription levels for the pro users.
What is the best approach to differentiate between the standard and pro users? Should I let the pro users register as regular users and let them ‘upgrade’ their profile later? Or is there a way to let the user choose his account type at the registration? Should I hack the user profile for the pro users somehow, or is it better to create custom post type ProUsers to hold their specific profile info?
