Update Your Status button really weird in IE

Oh boy, here’s an odd one:

Running IE7, the Update Your Status button in a member profile displays at the same width as the content in the right column. Clicking it causes the entire contents of the column to slip down below the level of the last element in the leftmost column (the “Me” section). Moreover, the textarea and Update button to input the status don’t display. You can see where they would be by highlighting all on the page but…

In Firefox, no problem (no surprise there).

Any insight from some smart folks would be appreciated :-)

You can see the weirdness at http://rspace.org

Thanks to any who take the time to look at this one!

    What version of BuddyPress?

I haven’t even looked at it or looked at any code… but based on your description… I’m guessing that the CSS is using a selector that IE doesn’t understand.

Oh wait… I think this is the old inline block issue with the buttons in IE. See this ticket:

Hi David (if you’re still there),

Thanks! The components.css.patch works fine to display the button properly when added to bp-sn-parent/_inc/css/components.css and bp-default/_inc/css/screen.css

But, clicking the button in IE still causes the entire contents of the column to slip down below the level of the last element in the leftmost column – the “Me” section (problem #2).

Seems to be a hiccup in the form display…

    Any ideas on that one?

By the way, I’m running WPMU 2.8.6 & BP 1.1.3
