For those of you tuning into us via SVN:

    BuddyPress RC2 = BuddyPress Revision 1406

Anything +1406 can be referred to as “trunk” again.

Check these topics for some important reading on upgrading your existing BuddyPress installs.

BuddyPress Directory Changes and New File Locations

Reminder to move your old install, and what error you’ll receive if you don’t

Andy when the language files will be integrated in automatic update of BP?

I did the svn up and all seemed to work well as the site is still working.

I read in another thread that rc2 makes some db changes.

Is there something I should be doing other than just updating my svn or does the db automatically upgrade?

    Hi All,

I just updated mekudos.com with MU 2.7.1, RC-2 and BB-Press Alpha6 and all was a success. However, I do not see an option for the home and member templates for forums to link bbpress and RC-2?

Thanks for All the Hard Work,

Anointed: The DB will upgrade automatically.

Mekudos: Make sure you have the forums component enabled in the site admin under “BuddyPress > Component Setup”

Hi i just did a fresh install on one of my sites and at teh bottom i’m getting these errors:

Warning: Unknown(): open(/tmp/sess_e33a1e30e69602089d345f87dd187034, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown(): Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

Does anybody know what this might be?? i’m assuming it might be a .htaccess setting ??

Nirok: Looks like permission settings on the /tmp/ folder.

Oh man thats an oversite, was just the htaccess not having the old : AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php added to it, lol… thanks for the upgrade BTW!

I have a question about the loader.php in the css directory.

I followed all steps of the instruction:

    https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-buddypress/upgrading-from-rc-1/

However my directories were messed up. The styles weren’t applied. I figured out that it has something to do with the loader.php in the css directory.

My question is if it is possible to just copy the RC2 /css/loader.php in my customn theme /css/ folder? I’m afraid, cuz the new loader.php is much smaller with significant less file imports (where are the imports for e.g. grups.css / blogs.css /friends.css / wire.css)?

so Im running RC2 currently, and wondering what the difference is in 1.0 ?

or 1.0 is the “official release” of RC2?

    @jfcarter

Yeah, I’m a little confused also. Are there major differences between RC2 and 1.0?

    Hi there,

when following the upgrading instructions I forgot to activate the new plugins after uploading them manually. Instead I continued with all the theme changes right away [edit: on the ftp-server].

After all, I can not log into my MU installation at all – there is just a blank screen. I tried to bring the old files back in place – without success.

Is there any way that I do not have to re-install all of WordPress MU in order to get back my admin panel??? *argh*

@Enlightenmental1, @Jfcarter – version 1.0 is the first complete release version. RC2 was a release candidate.

Version 1.0 has several bug fixes RC2 does not have. There is absolutely no reason not to upgrade to Version 1.0 immediately

    The page

    https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-buddypress/upgrading-from-rc-1/

    is no more online.

Is there another place to find the upgrade instructions from rc1?

    Thanks

Thanks, but it seems that page covers upgrading only from version 1.0.

I need to upgrade from RC1 (that as I can understand is a more complicated task).

But I cant find anywhere online the instructrions that were in the page

    https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-buddypress/upgrading-from-rc-1/

    Upgrade to BP 1.0.3:

    https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/buddypress.1.0.3.zip

Then follow the rest of the steps.

As always, make a backup of your DB and filesystem before proceeding.
