User Log In Not working

A user can register and activate just fine. However, when you return to the site to log in, it continues to show the Log In options instead of the other Menu options like Log Out, etc. I’m using the MesoColumn theme. Any thoughts? I’m new to BuddyPress and would really like to get it working on the site.
