User Portal Article I found-might be useful but needs attention

can anyone please help me on this? I found this article about user portals but I am not sure if the guy means that the wp would automatically create user portal pages or we have to do that manually?

I would like to have a facebook like portal for my users where all the portal page set up is taken care of by computer automatically.
