    hi, i am new to buddypress and a casual blogger, i am already using wordpress platform at my website. sorry for my poor English. i am planning to setup a social network for my college mates. i am couple of questions and confusions. first of all i want to ask is it possible to install buddypress with each individual getting his own blog. how can i do that, because i am testing buddypress at testbp.org but i could not see/access my blog. i want how ever register at my site, get a profile and a blog too. more over which host should i get in order to get my network hosted. which one is best ??? because i am not a pro. hope u ll understand my question. thanks :)

    @adiljaved – yes, each individual having their own blog is a standard BuddyPress setup.

    You’ll need to install WordPress 3.0 and configure it for multisite: https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

    Then install the BuddyPress plugin (from the plugins menu), and it’s as simple as that. You’ll have a default installation, default theme, and the ability for each individual to have their own blog.

    Ask the hosting question separately – there are lots of possibilities (we use hostnine – a US company with servers in a few countries). Type of server you need will depend on the amount of traffic you get to your site.

    Roger, how to get the Signup / Registration link on the admin bar when I logout. This is for an experimental site on the local machine. Do we need to do any settings? I have updated the wp-config file to support multisite…. ie define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true);

    Please don’t jump in on others threads if you have a question start your own post.

    You might need to check that you have allowed registration in the super-admin settings.
