what is the function control posts loop?

hello,
I am new guy for the buddypress,but I do some research about wordpress.
In the wordpress I can use “query_posts(‘showposts=-1’)” to control post loop dispay all the posts, but in the buddypress, it uses other function,”bp_has_posts”,”bp_the post”…
Who can tell me ,what is the new function can control bp-post-loop just like query_posts(‘showposts=-1’) to display all the posts?
By the way, Is there any Docs for buddypress,like Docs in wordpress? explain different between bp and wp.
